Upon landing at Kigali International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by our representative who will assist with currency exchange before transferring you to your hotel. The remainder of your day is free to relax and recover from your journey, with an overnight stay in Rwanda's vibrant capital city.
After break fast, we will start with a morning Kigali city tour and then proceed to visit some of the landmarks in in the city including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, craft markets and cultural centers. What’s more, you will take a scenic journey south to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa's oldest rainforests. But on the way, you also stop at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza to learn about the country’s royal history. Finally, you will drive through rolling tea plantations until you arrive at your Nyungwe lodge.
Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest takes you tracking the antics of our closest relatives in the early morning whilst tracking along tropical forest paths with experienced trackers. You will also hear the exciting calls of chimps resounding throughout the rainforest canopy during the hike. The reward is you get to see their interesting social dynamics and an intense wildlife experience. You will later in the day also visit nearby tea plantations, and therefore experience Rwanda´s rich heritage of tea and the beautiful landscapes.
After breakfast, you will head to the north and reach the beautiful Lake Kivu. While there, enjoy a peaceful boat cruise, you'll also visit islands as you spot a variety of birdlife. And the calm waters will offer a great spot to chill, unwind and marvel at Rwanda's hills from. Afternoon drive on to the Volcanoes National Park, and finally at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
This morning, you will set out for golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park, and therefore venture into lively bamboo forests. Consequently, you will encounter playful troops of golden monkeys, and in addition observe their energetic movements up close. After returning to your lodge, you will moreover immerse yourself in authentic Rwandan culture through music, dance, and storytelling. As a result, the day will end with unforgettable cultural connections and an overnight stay near Volcanoes National Park.
Enjoy a leisurely morning with optional craft shopping in Kigali's vibrant markets. Depending on your flight time, you may relax at your hotel before being transferred to the airport for your onward journey, taking unforgettable memories of Rwanda's primates and people.
