5-Day Rwanda Primate Adventure is an economical trip for those who would like to discover the beautiful land of a thousand hills on a budget. Emphatically, safety measures have been taken into consideration and a covid test factored. You will have the chance to come face to face with the mighty mountain gorillas and also experience the people and the city.
It's the day of the arrival of your evening aircraft at the Kigali International Airport. All things considered, you'll have a meet and greet assistance from Akagera Aviation. Correspondingly, (A negative COVID-19 test result must be provided, taken at least 72 hours before travel, and another test will also be taken while on the ground.)
You'll then transfer to your hotel in the city. On arrival, you'll be assisted to check in. Dinner will follow in your room. You will be tested for COVID-19. Afterwards, you'll have your overnight stay.
On this day, you leave early in the morning for Lake Mburo National Park. En route there will be stops at the "Neck of the Forest" where Rwenzori turaco show themselves and also roadside wetlands. In the afternoon you take a boat cruise on the lake in search of the rare African finfoot and fish eagles. By evening, the game drive again yields lilac-breasted rollers, and more endemic rarities.
Have breakfast at the hotel and check out. At 9:00 am, set off for Musanze & Volcanoes National Park region.
The drive is scenic with beautiful landscapes. You will have a brief stop en route.
On arrival, you will visit the Dian Fossey Foundation which is based in the town of Ruhengeri to learn about the lady who started the conservation work of Gorillas and how her legacy continues.
Later, transfer to your lodge for check in, followed by lunch.
This afternoon at 2:00 pm, you will have a guided visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village.
Afterwards, return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.
Have an early breakfast at the lodge, then proceed to the park headquarters in time for your gorilla trek briefing at 7:00 am. You will be transferred to the trailhead, where you will join others and start your guided walk at 8:00 am.
Volcanoes Park is the Rwandan section of the great volcanic massif called the Virunga Mountains that straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC. The massif covers a huge area of over 8,000km², encompassing six active and three extinct volcanoes.
There is no other wildlife experience quite like an encounter with mountain gorillas. That precious hour spent in their company — watching the group playing, sulking, teasing each other, eating, or dozing just like we do — is extraordinary.
After this exciting experience, return to your hotel in time for lunch. Afterwards, the afternoon will be spent at leisure to rest or if possible, visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.
You'll have breakfast at the lodge and proceed to Kigali.
On arrival at the Kigali International Airport, bid farewell to your driver guide and proceed to check in for your outbound aircraft.
