This 1 day mabamba swamp shoebill tour will be spent birding Mabamba swamp, one of the best birding sites in Uganda. Drift silently through the papyrus channels in search of the mythical Shoebill Stork, you will also see African Jacanas, Malachite Kingfishers, and other wetland inhabitants. The tour comprises a guided canoe tour, expert birding guidance, and photography. Great for birders of all skill levels looking to spend the day birding.
You will be picked from Entebbe or Kampala at around 6:00am, and commence your day with an early morning transfer to the Mabamba Swamp which lasts for around an hour. Upon arrival at the swamp, go for a guided canoe ride on the papyrus channels looking for the sought-after Shoebill Storks as well as the numerous wetland birds including Less Grebes, African Jacanas, Malachite Kingfishers, Swamp Flycatchers and Black Crakes.
In the middle of the day, stop for an afternoon snack or packed lunch with beautiful views of the swamp. You will continue birding along various channels after lunch for more chance to see different rarring and common birds together.
Finish canoeing and return to start in the afternoon. There is an optional brief stroll in the surrounding wetlands for more birding and photography. Eventually, return back to Entebbe or Kampala, to arrive in the late afternoon.
